Beware Charismatic Men Who Preach 'Change'

That’s the title of a recently-posted YouTube video. It is a representation of a letter to the editor of the Richmond Times-Dispatch written July 7, 2008 by Manuel Alvarez Jr. of Sandy Hook, Va. Manuel is a young man who escaped Communist Cuba in 1968.
Take a look at it and pass it on.

Obama's rhetoric is nothing new. I am old enough to remember how Castro came to power over 50 years ago. Americans thought he would save the Cubans and offered him much support.

I like this comment by blake78266, "I sincerely hope my dad is right. He said, 'there may be a lot of people who may THINK they are going to vote for Obama, but when they get in the booth, the hand is going to start to shake.' " I, too, hope is dad is right.

If this post bothers you, please read Alma Chapter 51 and Helaman 5:2. The similarity to our day is sobering.

Very interesting. I've never been swayed by that...the core issues, my core values, are what drives me. I am a conservative and although McCain may not have been my candidate of choice, he's a heck of a lot closer to my value system and priorities that Obama. And I won't throw my vote away, just to make a point, or to vote for someone who has no possibility of winning. So, McCain is it for me.

I like it, the way you said "that' Obama.
McCain is my choice also, since the senator from Texas, Ron Paul, is out of the running. It's sad because he is a man of integrity and a constitutionalist, the kind of leader our country needs.

I loved your comments you posted on korys blog. I feel and believe as you do. It is so sad we have ruined the beautiful democracy the founding fathers created.

If only more people especially the poor and uneducated realized that they are selling their free agency . . .they are freely giving their agency to the government. So So SAD.

It especially enrages me when members of the church do not understand the gross errors of their socialistic views and comforts.

thanks you for voicing your thoughts so well.

and also, are you from payette. I have rafted down the payette . .my favorite white water of all.

This is off topic, and I know you are super busy, but I would LOVE to see a before and after photo of your house. Maybe a "during" photo (with all the mess). You don't have to post it now, just take at least one picture! ;-)

It would be fun to see. You don't even have to write anything, could could just post the before and after photos.

Love you!

KIM- Thanks for letting me know, & thanks for visiting my blog. btw, our founding fathers gaves us a *REPUBLIC* not a democracy. Unfortunately our schools have been dumbing us down in that respect for the past 50 years. There *is* a difference between the two and that will be the subject of a future post on my blog.....after I've posted the photos beautiful and talented JOLLY requested.
I do not live in Payette. I have been tubing, swimming, floating in the Middle Fork (Crouch, Id) of the Payette, where we had a cabin while our kids were growing up. And I have floated part of the South fork of the payette, where my daughter Robin has a cabin (Garden Valley, Id.) But I have not been on the main Payette.
Our Relief Society plans an annual trip for the adventuresome ladies & I was planning to go, but had to bail out at the last minute due to a broken small bone & resulting complications in my foot...shucks. I will go in 2009!
STEVE - do I know you & how did you find me? I visited your blog & you are a funny guy. The revolution continues here in Idaho. We pulled more votes and more delegates for RonPaul than any other state. Too bad he's out of the running.

Linda - You commented on Salty's (Kory/weclometomysoapbox.blogger) and we debated some stuff. Thanks for the compliments and I look forward to reading more here!

"they are freely giving their agency to the government."

Kim, according to Elder Oaks, this is not possible. We may give up freedoms to the government, but agency can never be taken away.

I'm voting for Obama (unless I get the shakes of course!) but I find it amusing that we both liked Ron Paul. :)

One more comment:
"It especially enrages me when members of the church do not understand the gross errors of their socialistic views and comforts."

I nearly fell off my chair reading this, because it just so happens that I get "especially" enraged when members of the church do not understand the gross errors of their capitalistic views and comforts. ;)
